M u s e u m s

Welcome to the World Wide Web (WWW) Virtual Library museums pages.

Please mail J.P.Bowen@reading.ac.uk if you know of relevant on-line information not included here, would like to maintain information on a particular topic, or if you would like to support or sponsor the pages in some way. Currently this main page receives around 1200 "visitors" per day.

These pages provide an eclectic collection of WWW services connected with museums, galleries and archives. Items starting with ! are recently added items. Starred items marked * have large collections and/or are especially recommended. If enough people ask for a star to be added to an item I will do so!

The related separate WWW Virtual Library information on libraries and art and literature may be of interest.

* Selected virtual exhibitions

! Reorganization of the museums pages

Due to the large number of museums being added to the museums pages (about one per day), the list has been split into two (almost equal!) sublists for the USA and the rest of the world (come on the rest of the world!). A seraching facility is planned in the future, time (and funding!) permitting.
