Jolly Building Weather

November 1994

The newly appointed Deputy Director of The River and Rowing Museum at Henley discovered that mud was thicker than water this week when she went down to check on progress at the museum site at Mill Meadows, Henley.

Piling work for the museum foundations was commenced by Laing earlier this month and the main contractors for the building are due to start work on site in 1995. The museum is scheduled to open its doors to the public in 1996 and will tell the story of Henley and the history of the River Thames. There will be a special collection focussing on the origins and development of oar powered craft.

Emily Leach joins The River and Rowing Museum at Henley project from her previous post as a Senior Museum's Officer with Oxfordshire Museums Service, where most recently she masterminded the refurbishment of Abingdon Museum.
